Barbara Gottschalk is the co-founder of Seeds of Peace, an organization founded in 1993 that is dedicated to providing young people from conflict regions with the skills to become future leaders, with goals of advancing reconciliation and coexistence. She was the Executive Vice President for 14 years and now serves on the executive committee of the Board of Directors. |
As part of the Discussions of Leadership Lecture Series, Barbara Gottschalk will deliver a presentation entitled, "Out Beyond Ideas of Wrong-Doing and Right-Doing: Leadership in Our Time." Ms. Gottschalk will discuss her work with Seeds of Peace, which has been instrumental in bringing together young people from Israel, Palestine and other troubled areas for experience in living together peacefully.
Seeds of Peace has a summer camp in the United States and a Center for Coexistence in Jerusalem. More than 2,000 participants have graduated from the camp in Maine and then returned to their regions for regular meetings and coexistence programs.
Ms. Gottschalk’s visit is through the Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellows Program administered by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) in Washington, DC. This distinguished program brings prominent artists, diplomats, journalists, business leaders, and other professionals to campuses across the United States for a week-long residential program of classes, seminars, workshops, lectures, and informal discussions.
