Five members of the English faculty (TeamEnglish) will take the court of the Harrington Center Gym at the Mount on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. to participate in Layup 4 Lauren.

The fundraiser is in honor of freshman basketball player, Lauren Hill, who has been diagnosed with an incurable pediatric brain cancer. Committed to being the voice of children with brain cancer who can’t speak for themselves, Lauren has already raised consciousness about the disease through national and international media coverage.
Layup 4 Lauren has a few rules that will challenge English faculty, who are more comfortable in the classroom than on the court:

  • Spin around five times
  • Shoot a basket with your nondominant hand (because Lauren’s righthanded layup has been compromised by her brain cancer)
  • Donate $10 to The Cure Starts Now Foundation if you miss the basket.
  • Please join us for this event if you can.
