Every year, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and the Student Government Association (SGA) organize a plethora of events for the Mount community during homecoming week. These events include a variety of free activities for the students and faculty. Tristan Chaput, president of CAB, informed me of the all the great plans they have in store for everyone, and what SGA has planned for this week full of fun.

  • To start off the week there is the annual pep rally, formerly known as the Homecoming Extravaganza. It will take place on Oct. 18, beginning at 8 pm. There will be a mechanical bull, photo booth, snacks, and a showing of the movie Rudy. Plus—look for a special surprise from Sean Astin, an actor from the film!
  • SGA is hosting their annual Homecoming Week push-cart parade, where the wide variety of clubs and organizations decorate carts to showcase what they do. There will also be an office decorating competition for the faculty and staff. Look for it during the week leading up to homecoming.
  • All of this leads up the homecoming football game. The game kicks off at 1:30 pm. against Defiance College on Oct. 19. For all students, the game is free with the presentation of a valid Mount ID.
  • Finally, on Oct. 20, CAB is will bring students to the horrifying Land of Illusion, a haunted attraction in Middletown, OH. There are twenty open slots for this free event, and transportation is provided. The bus leaves at 6:30 pm.

Take advantage of these events on campus, as they are assembled with you in mind. Watch some football, root for the MSJ Lions, learn about the great organizations on campus, and get scared senseless. Don’t forget to bring your school spirit!
