The Mount mourns the loss of a student

Press Releases

The College of Mount St. Joseph is deeply saddened with the loss of one of our students, Jakob Murphy, 24, on Christmas Eve morning.

Jake died in a one-car accident in Delhi Township. He was a senior majoring in paralegal studies with a minor in business administration. As a student athlete, Jake had participated in the Mount's football program.

"While the loss of a young person is always difficult, the holidays make such a loss even more so," said Doug Frizzell, vice president for student affairs. "Please remember Jake and his grieving family and friends in your thoughts and prayers."

A counselor will be available in the Wellness Center on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, and next week for those in the campus community who may want their services.

Funeral arrangements will be provided once they have been finalized.
