The 2014 Writing Contest Celebrates Its Winners and Participants

The College of Mount St. Joseph and the Department of English and Modern Languages wants to congratulate the winners and participants of the 2014 High School Writing Contest.

Sophomores from high schools around the Greater Cincinnati have submitted their works in the categories of personal essay, poetry and fiction. Participants, as well as their families and teachers, joined English Department faculty and student judges for an evening celebrating the talented high school writers.

The following are the winners in each category:

Personal Essay

  • First Place: Elisa Stanis            
  • Honorable Mention: Lydia Guo                            
  • Honorable Mention: Nausheen Siddiqui    

Fiction

  • First Place: David Rice                        
  • Honorable Mention: Grace Burkhart      
  • Honorable Mention: Cara Kirkpatrick

Poetry

  • First Place: Alyssa Antoine                                
  • Honorable Mention: Catherine Evers Smith      
  • Honorable Mention:  Cara Kirkpatrick
