The cast of “Alice in Wonderland” took the stage April 28 to a full house in the College's Recital Hall. It was the culminating project of a course called Great Ideas: Scripting and Performing, taught by Lisa Bodollo, an adjunct in the Mount’s English department and fulltime drama teacher at Mother of Mercy high school.

Earlier in the semester the students, known as the Mount Acting Ensemble, collaborated on the play script then toured the play at Our Lady of Victory elementary school.

In addition to creating props and costumes, students also prepared a study guide distributed to students, with age-appropriate activities, such as an Alice in Wonderland memory game, word bank, and writing activities.

The introduction to the guide includes this mission statement for the ensemble: “While putting on shows that appeal to both parents and educators from a moral and educational perspective, we aim to introduce a new generation of students to the magic of theater. We hope to inspire children to have a lifetime appreciation for the arts and bring excitement and wonder to the stories that we all know and love.”
