Recent Mount graduate recognized by national honor society

Jamie Whisman, a 2012 graduate of the College of Mount St. Joseph, was recently honored by Psi Chi, the national honor society for psychology.

Whisman won a prestigious regional research award from Psi Chi for her senior thesis, “Effect of Text Messaging During Class on Quiz Scores of College Students,” which she presented May 3 in the Psi Chi poster session at the annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago. There were more than 400 student submissions, and Whisman was one of 24 who received an award. She received $300 and a certificate of recognition from Psi Chi.

Whisman majored in psychology and social work at the Mount, and was also named Outstanding Senior by the social work department. She lives in Green Township.
