Think you have a cool co-op? Pete Thompson thought his experience at the Reds Hall of Fame was definitely cool so he applied for the Ohio Cool Co-op Contest sponsored by the Ohio Cooperative Education Association (OCEA). His essay and pictures helped him win the "Coolest Projects" category and will be honored May 15 at the OCEA meeting in Cuyahoga Falls with a $250 cash prize.

Thompson wrote about his experience planning and implementing the events at Redsfest as well as helping promote the Reds Hall of Fame's new feature exhibit, Signature Reds, by contacting local hotels and distributing marketing materials to promote the museum. He was also given the opportunity to help fundraise for the Joe Morgan statue project that will be completed in the fall. Thompson also wrote to former Reds players to participate in exclusive Sunday Brunches which connect former players with fans.

"Ultimately, what I hope to gain from this co-op experience is a well-rounded understanding of the functions of a business environment," Thompson said. "I also hope to acquire valuable work experience which will help me make a successful transition into full-time employment, hopefully in the sports industry."

Congratulations, Pete!

The Mount's Career and Experiential Education Center helps students like Pete compete for fantastic co-op positions and internships.
