Mary Lou Grimshaw Hausman '64 has received the Sister Mary Lea Mueller Human Service Award from the College of Mount St. Joseph.

This award is given to alumni who have devoted their lives to service to others, affirm the value of human existence through their commitment to service and who enhance the community by serving its educational, cultural, social and religious institutions.

Since her graduation from the Mount in 1964, Hausman has been devoted to helping others. As a member of St. Dominic's Parish in Delhi, she actively participates as a Eucharistic minister, lector and planner in a prayer group. She also serves as a bereavement minister.

Hausman is a former member of the Riverview-Delhi Kiwanis, organization that supports local charities and fulfills the individual needs of a family in crisis. She is also the guardian of two adult wards of the state.

Hausman was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, but since she is now in remission, she continues to volunteer in any way possible for the community.

Hausman will receive her award on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the convocation during the Mount's Reunion Weekend.
