Last call for entries!

High school seniors may apply for the College of Mount St. Joseph's Art & Design Portfoilo Scholarship Competition 2014. To be eligible for a scholarship, seniors must apply and be admitted to the College of Mount St. Joseph.

Note: All application fees are waived through the portfolio deadline of February 25, 2014. Use the promo code ART14 for a waiver of the application fee. 

All that's needed is a portfolio of your best work (8 to 12 examples) that exhibits a variety of 2-D and 3-D art and design skills and creativity. The work should express individuality in content, style and technique. Include the following items with the portfolio:

  • A short letter or essay articulating your reasons for wanting to study art and design at the Mount, and the importance of art and design in your life. Indicate the areas of study you are most interested in pursuing. Include your name, address, email and school name.
  • A letter of recommendation from your high school art instructor.
  • A transcript of grades.
  • An inventory of the art and design works included in portfolio (title, media, date).

In addition to the requirements listed above, submit your portfolio in digital format — CD format only (no flash drives). Your name, address, email and school name must be written on the CD.

Note: Be sure to check your CD on a different computer than your own to make sure your images appear on the CD as you intend them to look. The inability of the jurors to see the electronic images qill disqualify the portfolio.

CD submissions are due Tuesday, Feb. 25, by 5 p.m. and should be submitted to:

Digital submissions will be juried by art and design faculty with email notifications sent by March 1.

Chosen applicants will then submit actual portfolios for the second round of jurying. Portfolios should be delivered to the Dorothy Meyer Ziv Art Building from March 3-7, 2014 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.), or Saturday, March 8, (1-5 p.m.) or Sunday, March 9 (1-5 p.m.).

Tape your name, address, email and school name to the outside of your actual portfolio.

FInal jurying and awarding of scholarships, with notification, will take place in the third or fourth week of March.
