Four choirs appearing in the World Choir Games will give a free performance on Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. in the College Theatre at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Delhi Township as part of the Friendship Concert series.
The choirs include the Suanplu Chorus from Thailand, the Bahamas National Youth Choir from the Bahamas, Prime Note Ensemble, a Filipino group from California, and Southern Gateway Chorus from Greater Cincinnati. More than 150 singers will be involved in the Friendship Concert at the Mount. Each choir performs 15-20 minutes.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for the community to hear some of the world’s greatest choirs without spending any money,” said Tony Aretz, Ph.D., president of the Mount. “We’re thrilled to host these teams in our College Theatre and share in celebrating the World Choir Games. We hope the public takes advantage of this tremendous event.”
The College Theatre seats nearly 1,100. The concert is free, and all seats are reserved. Tickets will be available in the Theatre Lobby Box Office on select days and time beginning the week of June 18. There is a limit of 10 tickets per person. Cincinnati hosts the 2012 World Choir Games July 4-14, the first time the Games are being held in the United States. The WCG are considered to be the Olympics of choral music. Choirs from around the world will perform in selected venues throughout the week; Friendship Concerts will be held in various locations throughout the city.
