The Cincinnati Arts Scene, taught by English professor Elizabeth Bookser Barkley, hosted young musicians from MYCincinnati on Feb. 21.

MyCincinnati, part of a growing network of over 50 programs in the U.S., is built around the ideals of El Sistema, founded in Venezuela in 1975.

MYCincinnati allows youth to spend two hours a day five days a week studying stringed instruments and playing together as an orchestra. The program is free to participants.

Mount English major Megan Moore commented, "I was so impressed with the MYCincinnati performance. I expected them to be good, but they were so much better than anything I could have anticipated. The first piece that they played, Spring, brought tears to my eyes."
