    Climate Change, Global Security, and the Common Good

    University Theatre

    On Thursday, November 13, the MSJ Environmental Action Committee will host "Climate Change, Global Security, and the Common Good". We will have two nationally-known speakers here for the day: Rear Admiral David Titley, USN (Ret.) and Dan Misleh, the Executive Director of the Catholic Climate Covenant.
     
    There will be two programs on November 13, at noon and at 7:00 p.m,. in the Theatre. At both programs, we will help connect the issues around climate change with Catholic Social Teaching, the Charity mission, and taking action for the common good, on both personal and public policy levels. Other speakers joining us for the day will include Marge Kloos (at noon), Leanne Jablonski of the University of Dayton and the Marianist Environmental Education Center(in the evening), and another theologian from Xavier. Numerous environmental organizations will also be present to offer information and avenues for action.

    The study night will be an event where residents can come together while working on homework or studying. There will be different study tools available to the residents who attend. These tips can range from tasting mints to study tip to organization ideas.

    Metanoia Retreat

    Higher Ground Retreat Center, West Harrison, IN

    This weekend retreat is a time for sophomore through senior students to examine where they have had “changes of heart” in the personal, social, and spiritual lives.  This retreat challenges students to be aware of the changes in their lives and the blessings these changes may bring.  Metanoia has a team of students to plan all of the prayers, talks, and activities for the whole weekend.

    California Suite, Presented by MSJ’s Drama Club

    University Theatre

    CALIFORNIA SUITE is a comedy set in one suite at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and follows the mishaps of four sets of characters:
    • "Visitor from New York": Hannah Warren, a snooty New Yorker, comes to Los Angeles to fetch her daughter Jenny from her screenwriter ex-husband, William, and is prepared to wage war for custody of her child. Snarky one-liners ensue.
    • "Visitor from Philadelphia": Marvin Michaels, a middle-aged businessman, wakes after a drunken evening to find a...surprise in his hotel room.
    • "Visitors from London": Diana, a crusty British actress, is in Los Angeles with her husband Sidney for the Academy Awards, where she is nominated for Best Actress. As the evening progresses, sparks fly between Diana and her husband, who's been harboring a secret.
    • "Visitors from Chicago": Two couples (Stu and Gert, Mort and Beth) are taking a much-needed vacation together, but their relaxation is shattered after a tennis match gets out of hand.
    *Contains strong language and mature subject matter; Ages 18 and up.
