    Orientation: You-Choose Sessions

    Various classrooms

    Choose sessions of interest to you to learn more about resources at the University. Tip: If you split up during these sessions, you will be able to get more information about the University!

    • Commuter Student Session presented by Janet Cox, Dean of Students
      Location: CL 101
      Are you a student or guest of a student planning to commute to MSJ? Come get some helpful hints and pointers from staff members and actual commuter students.
    • Residence Life Session presented by Mary Bowman, Resident Assistant
      Location: CL 102
      Are you or your student living on campus? Come hear current resident students talk about their experience and receive tips to help you navigate the residence hall.
    • Career & Experiential Education Center Session presented by Career & Experiential Education Center staff
      Location: CL 103
      Interested in Service Learning, Coop programs, polishing up your resume, or learning more about effectively interviewing? The CEEC is a one-stop shop for all of these needs. Stop by to learn more from staff and a panel of students.
    • Wellness Session presented by Patsy Schwaiger, Director of Wellness Center and Amy Demko, Nurse Manager, Health Services
      Location: CL 115
      Experiencing cold/flu symptoms? Feeling overwhelmed/stressed? Come and learn how our Wellness Center staff can help you stay healthy.
    • FIRST: Generation Success! presented by Terri Hurdle, Director of Diversity & Inclusion
      Location: CL 106
      This session is for students, parents, and support systems who desire to learn more about resources, services, and programs that will contribute to their success as the first individual in their immediate family to attend college.
    • Learning Center & Disability Services Session presented by Meghann Littrell, Director of Learning Center & Disability Services
      Location: CL 104
      Interested in MSJ’s tutoring and resources for academic support? Stop by and learn more.
    • Student Athlete Session presented by Tina Blakley, Track and Cross Country Coach
      Location: CL 201
      Learn how to balance being a student and an athlete. Listen to actual student athletes and their coach’s talk about their experiences and give some tips.

    You can also choose to stop by Financial Aid in the Conlan Center to discuss any question you have! The Conlan Center is in the Classroom Building, the same building where the other You-Choose Sessions are located. Look for signs and Orientation Leaders to help you!

    Check out the bookstore, go on a tour of the residence hall, talk to Financial Aid, get your ID/parking permits, solve any technology issue you are having, or have coffee drinks with Janet Cox, Dean of Students, and
    Mrs. Carole Williams, First Lady, in Starbucks.

    Seton Residence Hall

    Resident students who attend the JUNE or JULY SUMMER ORIENTATIONS will move into their Fall residence hall room on the evening of Thursday, August 24. Specific move-in times are based alphabetically by last name and are as follows:

    • Students A – E: between 6:30pm and 7:00pm
    • Students F – K: between 7:00pm and 7:30pm
    • Students L – P: between 7:30pm and 8:00pm
    • Students Q – Z: between 8:00pm and 8:30pm
