Biography:

Dr. Russell is an assistant professor in the Mount's Department of Biology.  She teaches a variety of anatomy and physiology classes including cardiopulmonary physiology, endocrinology, neuropharmacology of  drugs of abuse, and various workshops on environmental science. Professor Russell received an undergraduate degree from the Mount, and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Cardiac Physiology and Neuroendocrinology from Miami University (Ohio).

Dr. Russell is an avid birder and bird-bander, and co-founder and executive director of the Avian Research and Education Institute, a non-profit bird conservation, education and advocacy organization. She is creating a bird banding program at the Mount that will engage students and community members. Being both a physiologist and an environmentalist, Dr. Russell is a diverse, dynamic and multi-faceted teacher who loves to share her knowledge and experiences with others.
