Biography:

Dr. Charles-Liscombe is department chair, associate professor, and athletic training education program director and joined the Mount's faculty in 2012. He holds an Ed.D. in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, a M.S. in Kinesiology with a specialization in Athletic Training, and a B.S. in Sports Medicine from Guilford College.

Dr. Charles-Liscombe is a certified and licensed athletic trainer with prior clinical experience at NCAA Division I, II, and III colleges and universities and community events. He teaches a variety of courses in the department including principles of athletic training, therapeutic modalities, kinesiology, orthopedic assessment, and senior seminar.  His research interests center on the scholarship of teaching and learning, active learning strategies in the classroom, faculty development issues in higher education, and academic role strain.

Prior to joining the Mount, he served as a district director on the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association leadership board and was named the 2008 NCATA Athletic Training Educator of the Year. He is also a site visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training.
