Position Title: Athletic Trainer 50%

Mount St. Joseph University is accepting applications for the part -time, professional staff appointment of Athletic Trainer - 50%. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the head athletic trainer and supervises the care of student athletes competing in the University’s athletic program. The athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program. The 2015-2016 position has primary responsibility for the wrestling, men’s tennis, and women’s tennis teams at the University and assisting other teams when necessary. Travel is required with wrestling to away competitions. This is a 12 month position with employment hours in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends beginning July 1st and ending June 30th.
Provides/direct medical services to teams as assigned, and assists in the supervision of medical services for all student-athletes to include:

Supervision Exercised: Athletes, Athletic Training Students
Supervision Received: Works under general direction toward broadly defined objectives; refers specific problems to the Head Athletic Trainer only when clarification or interpretation of organizational policies is involved. May also receive direction from the Athletic Training Education Program Director and Athletic Training Education Program Clinical Coordinator, Team Medical Director, and Team Physician(s).
Education: Bachelor’s degree required & Board of Certification (BOC) certified in Athletic Training and Ohio Licensed in Athletic Training
Experience: Some college athletic training preferred.
Specialized Training: Excellent verbal and written communications. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software. Proficient in use of: Athletic Training supplies and equipment, therapeutic modalities, computer and software. Valid driver’s license required. American Red Cross (ARC) Instructor Certifications in Responding to Emergencies and CPR for the Professional Rescuer is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with NCAA governing rules and CAATE standards for clinical supervision.
