History majors are eager to connect lessons of the past to the present.
They strive to understand how political, social and economic relationships shape the world. Students of history are encouraged to ask critical questions and provide thoughtful answers.
Historical study develops critical thinking, research and writing skills, and an appreciation of the impact of the past upon the present. The study of history also helps the student understand how our complex world has been shaped by political, social and economic relationships.
An undergraduate history major is also excellent preparation for graduate school in business administration, education, law, social work, communications, history and other areas.
