The Department of Religious and Pastoral Studies presents religion as both an academic discipline and an opportunity for personal growth.

In the department's general education courses,  students deepen their critical understanding of the spiritual and Christian dimensions of life.

The Religious and Pastoral Studies Department provides students with the resources to:

  • Appreciate and analyze religion.
  • Investigate the sources, development and practice of religious faith.
  • Develop their own faith while appreciating that of others.

The Department of Religious/Pastoral Studies offers a major in religious studies, religious education, and religious pastoral ministry. We offer a minor in religious studies and ethics, and students may also earn graduate-level certificates in pastoral administration as well as spiritual and pastoral care. The College of Mount St. Joseph also offers a Master of Arts in religious studies.

The Department of Religious and Pastoral Studies at the College of Mount St. Joseph is pleased to present our  2014 Summer Spirituality Institute. Click here for more information.
