Continuing with a holistic emphasis, the program emphasizes increasing levels of student engagement over a two year period in key areas of personal and social responsibility.
Program Overview & Timeline
Leadership Enrichment
Emphasizes ethical leadership education, training and development. Students participate in teambuilding and service immersion retreats at the beginning of each program year. Students also participate in collaborative leadership projects and a leadership workshop series each year.
Community Engagement
Emphasizes civic responsibility through the process of community engagement. Students engage in meaningful community-based learning projects that impact our campus and community. Students choose from opportunities to participate in one-time volunteer events, service learning and immersion experiences.
Career Exploration & Preparation
Emphasizes career readiness and congruence of student attributes, skills and values with choice of career vocation. Students choose from opportunities to participate in workshops, cooperative education experiences and other approved activities that stress the importance of the stewardship of their knowledge, skills and experience.
Campus Involvement
Emphasizes responsible citizenship through involvement in campus life. Students choose from opportunities to participate in workshops, retreats and active involvement in the focus areas of multicultural affairs, campus ministry and campus activities.
Personal Leadership Portfolio
Students create a personal leadership portfolio highlighting the leadership development activities in which they have been involved during their time at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Development of a personal leadership philosophy is included in the portfolio.
