So this blog won't be another political rant about the latest governmental fiasco/take-over/mess-up. I'm not in the mood. And, luckily we all seem to have survived the media-created panic surrounding the swine/pig/h1n1/FlyingPig Flu (at least for this news cycle). I thought I'd talk about herbs. Specifically my indoor herb garden. I have an assortment of herbs I like to grow and add to various cooking recipes. Right now I have some very strong Basil plants which are quite fragrant and a great addition to lots of different dishes, especially pastas or other Italian food. Along with the Basil, the Parsley and Chives are both doing well. The Dill is a little thin though. It takes time and practice to figure out exactly how much to water, how much light the plants need, and other little things. I started some veggies too. Beefsteak tomatos and lemon cucumbers. I repotted the tomato seedlings to a larger pot, but they are looking kind of weak. Hopefully they weren't damaged too much.
Gardening is a rewarding hobby, and you don't necessarily need a big yard to do it. Indoor gardens are relatively inexpensive. An indoor light is probably the biggest expense. It also depends on how serious you want to get. A south facing window that gets a good amount of sunshine is great for a windowsill garden. I'll try to get some photos posted in the next few days of my garden. Later,
