Career Fair

On Tuesday, March 11th, I attended the “Kaleidoscope of Careers” which is the Annual Career Fair at the Mount.  This was my third year attending this event.  If you ever have an opportunity to go to a campus career fair, it is a good way to learn about different employers and the positions they have available for summer internships, part-time and full-time jobs.  You can also express your interest with a company and present your resume.  When you attend a campus career fair, it is important to dress professionally to make a good first impression and connection.  Although there were 28 wonderful employer participants, I thought the campus career fairs’ in the past were better than this one.  This is because there were only 28 compared to the 42 employer participants we had other years.  I also thought there would have been a few more large companies besides the Procter and Gamble Company, Dillard’s, etc.  After talking with several students in other majors like Communications and Criminology about the campus career fair, they said the businesses there were geared more for Business majors than any other major.  For future years, I hope I see more employer participants there with positions available for more of a variety of majors.  Going to this event was a good start for my job search and a real eye opener to what’s out there and what I am looking for.
