Baseball in 'Bama

Hey everyone.

Well the Mount baseball team just landed in Birmingham, Alabama.  It was a sleepy bus ride, mixed with a few movies, a few laughs, and a few momma jokes to the freshman.  The overall attitude seems to be that everyone is excited to get into some warmer weather.  It’s about 55 degrees down here now, but by game time tomorrow it should be up into the mid 60’s and sunny.  Be jealous all you who are facing the Cincinnati winter.

The team just had an outdoor practice at Birmingham Southern University, which was a nice change of pace from being in the gym.  They have a really sweet facility.  It’s always fun to play on stadium venue and get some people in the stands.  It builds a lot of adrenaline for all the players and makes the games a lot more fun to watch.

On the downside, a few of the players, including myself have been battling through some serious illnesses.  We have been forced to room together in the hotel, like a like a little sick ward, for fear of spreading our disease to the whole team.  I think the worst of mine has passed.  Hopefully one more night of sleep and I will be ready to go.  It’s going to feel great to get out into that sunny weather and lace up my cleats again.

We have a double header tomorrow and then one game Sunday before returning to the Mount.  It’s our first three games of the year, so I’ll let everyone know how we started off in my next blog.  See ya.
