Homecoming

This past week was our Homecoming week here at the Mount. It was full of activities, events, and fun for the Mount.

Monday had making Mount gear: decorating tshirts and socks in the Mount colors. Tuesday had a laser tag tournament. Wednesday was the final game of the Powder Puff tournament (orange v. turquoise and orange won 6-0). We had our push cart parade on Thursday and the top five were the nursing association, campus ministry leadership team, lions for life, NEKO, and art education association. The winners were picked at the Homecoming game on Saturday.

And then Friday had the Homecoming Extravaganza- a carnival of sorts in the gym. It included inflatables (an obstacle course, bungy cord thing, a velcro wall, batting with wiffle balls, then corn hole, sandy candy (make your own pixie sticks), decorating frisbees with those spinning table things and you drop paint on it and turns out a spinning design, and then a photo booth (that produced the strips of pictures) and a key chain photo producer type set up. I watched Maria (roommate) battle Nicole (friend) on the obstacle course and played corn hole with Nicole against Jeff W and Jeff C (friends). I also got three key chains: me and Maria, me and Tom (friend and fellow blogger), and me, Maria, and Tom. I also made and ate one of those huge pixie sticks. Then made two frisbees- one for me and one for Sam (other roommate). I also did the photo booth with Maria and Nicole. It was quite a fun event. :)

Then Saturday was the Homecoming game against the Hanover Panthers. We won 28-13! It was a fun game. The funniest thing that happened, that I've never seen before, was one of our players got his cleat/foot STUCK in the helmet guard of a Hanover player. It was the funniest thing trying to watch them get untangled. They had to take his helmet off and then yank it off our player's foot. It was hilarious!!! :D lol (I actually designed the Homecoming tshirt this year- the lion standing over the Hanover panther forcing him to lose the ball. Very kewl- if I say so myself- and very appropriate).

And of course Sunday just ends with a Bengals game against the Texans. It should be a good game. It's at home so my brother and his friend will be at the game enjoying the victories and woes of the Bengals. At least they're doing better this year than in the past few years. I'm sure it won't last too long... Nothing good ever does... Oh well. :) It was a good week for the Mount and we're officially past the midpoint of the semester. We are on the down hill now to Christmas break. Only 7 more weeks. (I'm not really counting down but I just know that we've past the middle of the semester.)

So make the best of your week and hope it was as good as our last week here at the Mount!!! :)

Life thus far!

Hey everyone! College is getting pretty intense lately! Monday I had my first Intramural Volleyball game, with fellow blogger Sondra and friends! We lost! But we did pretty well considering who we were playing! And that we’ve neverplayed volleyball in our lives! It was so much fun, I’m excited for our nextmatch! Yesterday I had my first CAB meeting, which is our Campus ActivitiesBoard. I didn’t initially plan on being in CAB, but I went down to sign up forPowder puff football with my friend Sophia and they were having a meeting so wewent right on in and joined them! It’s a really cool club; they’re in charge ofall kinds of things that are going on on-campus, like the Halloween dance!Which I’m uber excited about!  I’mlooking forward to helping out and getting involved. Since I’ve come to collegeso much has been going on and I’ve been really stressed out. I’m really underestimating the intensity of projects and papers, I’m not giving myself enoughtime for them and I need to start managing my time better. Its really hardtrying to balance school and tennis as well as doing activities and hanging outwith my friends. But so far I’m doing okay! Tennis was cancelled today andsince today is my “easy” day (I only have an art class) Me and My friend Sophiaare supposed to go to the mall and get some cute tops to go out in since I’m acomplete tomboy and don’t have any! HA! We’re all thinking about going to gosee the new movie “9” this weekend. It looks like such a good movie, I justhope I get done with my tennis match in time! On Saturdays I have Tri-matcheswhich is 3 teams that all play against each other, So we’re usually there for7538974 million hours, seriously. Haha! But speaking of tennis matches I haveone in 20 minutes! Time fly’s when your having fun! I’ll be posting again inthe next few days so keep a look out for it!

semester starting with a bang!

so even though my summer seemed to end a lot faster that i had expected, this semester has been awesome! i've been so busy but its been an amazing busy. i'm taking 19 credit hours this semester. that includes painting, lettering, capstone, pre-thesis, digital photography, sociology, and applied leadership. what's really cool about applied leadership is that it is focused on student development. i am amongst a small group of selected students to work as peer leaders for the first time students of the school. this means that not only am i getting credit hours for this applied leadership course but i am also receiving a stipend for the peer leader position. its really cool! i have quite a few other paying positions on campus. in addition to being a peer leader and this blogging position, i also work as a campus activities board publicity co-chair, admissions office caller, phonathon caller, and an activity assistant at the bayley place. on top to these classes and jobs, i also am a FiSH leader, project excel student ambassador,  and a campus ambassador this semester.

what's so amazing is that of all of this, i have no classes or work sessions on fridays. that doesn't mean, though, that i don't work on fridays. i still take that whole day to update my tutors on my school week, meet with different instructors and such for advising and also to complete any work that i would otherwise do on the weekends.

so while my schedule is busy, i still have my weekends for a bit more free time, even though i do end up extending my friday work sessions during the weekends. i haven't had too many cases at all of procrastination this semester so lets hope it says that way and just keeps improving!

just one year left!!!!

my gosh do i have a lot to share. well to begin. the one hour of facebook per day - not so successful. i've been on facebook a lot for the past couple weeks but i still have not been late with anything so there is still a great sense of progress in my procrastination post lent.

this past friday was the spring fest in which i got to meet made avail. which is a band from my hometown. the lead singer actually is friends with some of the st. rita alumni. which is where i did colorguard for 2 years. that was a lot of fun!

i spent a lot of time with my dear friend and fellow blogger, andi, at the spring fest too.

the spring fest overall was a great success in addition to the week beforehand with a great spring formal ticket when i got to pet a penguin and sharks!

he was so frickin cute!!!!!!!!!!!

i was the only one in that group reaching down for a while. i just kept sticking my arm down there to pet them!

Saturday then was the leadership retreat in which i was able to hear presentations about fundraising, ethical leadership, and publicity and promotion. all by some of my favorite people

Dr. Aretz has some great ideas about our college's future leadership plans and Betheny Herr (one of my wonderful bosses for this blog) is always so enthused about her job!!!

in addition to all of this excitement. i also attended the habitat for humanity reunion type dinner for all of the spring break trip members. as a whole, we gave our advisor, Dr. Reed, a framed picture of the team overall from the trip.

The weekend was definitely a great way to start my last week of classes as a junior in college.

And the week started off great as well!

On Monday I had received the Merit Scholarship through Project EXCEL at their graduation gala. Myself and two other girls, Clare Zilly (fellow blogger) and Kaitlin Bode, from the EXCEL program had earned these scholarships due to our success not only through the program but through the Mount as students and examples of the Mission Statement. It truly is an honor!!!

And today the excitement continued! This morning, I had a meeting at the Bayley Place across the street for a position through the summer employment grant and I got the position! Of course a requirement for it was to get a TB shot.... (((I DON'T LIKE NEEDLES))) but everything else has been so good that I honestly didn't even notice that portion of it.

Things are going so well for me right now that I can't help but to smile about everything!

I'm excited, also, for the DVD to come out of our play for the semester. Joseph came out so well, and I wouldn't have had so much fun without my friends being in it with me and great support from additional friends, as well as family.

(((Another thank you to my habitat board for a great year!!!)))

Spring Formal

So this past weekend was Spring Formal for the Mount at the Newport Aquarium. It was SO much fun! There was an excellent dinner, great desserts, and dancing ALL night long! I ended up in one main group of friends, Shiv (a fellow blogger!), Anthony, Anna, and Joe. Tom (blogger!) was my date for the night but he and I ended up splitting ways into different groups which was fine since we still had fun together during the night at different times :) We even ended up petting a real live penguin! No, it was not some man in a tux lol like some people think when they hear I got to pet a penguin lol :) But the penguin was so cute! And she was so soft! It was AWESOME!

I don't think I've danced that much ever! Normally I don't like dancing at school dances or whatever because I have absolutely no rhythm but that night I was just having so much fun that I couldn't stop jumping up and down with my friends and attempting to scream the lyrics to the songs I knew (which were few and far between). lol :) But we had SO much fun! I've put a few pics down below for you :)

After the dance, though, Shiv, Joe, Anna, Anthony, and I went to B-Dubs and had some fun playing with the Photo Hunt game in one of those booths with the computer game screen and we put up three different high scores as a group (AJASA, Shiv Andi An, and Joe Anton are the names of our scores if you happen to be in the same booth we were in and play the same game we were playing at the same B-Dubs we were at... which is very unlikely :) lol). Then we went our separate ways but in the end, I started getting ready at 4 PM on Saturday and went to bed at 3:30 AM Sunday morning. It was a blast and my feet were killing me but I wouldn't trade any of it (except maybe change my shoes- it's Monday and my feet still kinda hurt)!

This coming weekend is Spring Fest, the Mount's annual festival! Booths set up by clubs and organizations will be there along with live music, games, food, drinks, and fun! :) I am so excited for that too! Yay fun times to end the year! Only two more weeks of classes, one week of exams, and then I leave for London! This is so awesome! I don't think I've ever had such an exciting end of a semester at the Mount! YAY!!!

Tom and Me

Sam, me, and Shiv

Katie and Me (we're going to London together!)

Easter Special

We had Easter this weekend! How awesome is that!? We also had a four day weekend! We got Good Friday off and then we got Easter Monday off too. My weekend was nice and relaxing so that was good...

Friday I vegged in front of the TV most of the day and then had dinner with my fam at Applebee's so that was a good day. Saturday I didn't do much. Mom and I went out and bought shoes and a cardigan for my dress for Spring Formal next weekend! So that was kewl... Then my friend was over and we hung out a bit. He's more my brother's friend but he's my friend too so the three of us were kinda doing our own thing...

Sunday was Easter! Went to Mass. The priest had a 17 minute homily. My dad timed it- I don't know why. But I thought that was interesting so I was letting you know. :) Then we had a late brunch at about 2:30 PM. My mom and I laid out in the sun for about an hour- and yes, I did get sun burnt and I have no idea why. I guess 'cuz I haven't tanned at all this season so it was about time I turned red. lol Then we kinda hung out and didn't do anything the rest of the day. Had steak and potatoes for dinner and then watched TV together.

Mom had school on Monday and I didn't so I was doing the TV thing again as a relaxation bit. See, I worked all of Spring Break so this was my chance to really do nothing and have fun! lol But I ended up going into my mom's classroom for a bit to get some supplies for a project for one of my classes. Then we went to WalMart for no good reason and both walked away with a few things that we weren't expecting to buy (clothes... need I say more? lol). Of course then I worked on my project a bit.

I came back to school on Tuesday and it's been kinda hard to get back into the swing of things 'cuz we have classes and what not to get back into so I'm kinda tired with that. But it'll all be normal eventually... so ya... Spring Formal's on Saturday at the Aquarium so that's awesome! I'm so psyched about that! My friend, Sam, turns 20 on Friday also so I'm sure we'll go out for that too! Yay!!! :) So off to do projects and catch up on homework that I didn't do over the weekend lol... Hope your break was good and that your week turns out great too!!! :D
